We run agility classes over the spring, summer and autumn months at the Training Barn near Newtown.
Our agility classes are fun and friendly and help to keep you fit!. Many of our clients compete or are beginning to compete, however we also have clients that just train agility because they enjoy it! All breeds of dog can take part.
In our classes we teach not only the navigation of the equipment - but also drive, forward focus, independence and resilience. We look at teaching warm up and cool downs, and being a certified canine fitness trainer also means that our classes also cover canine fitness and conditioning. We teach dogs to jump efficiently and safely, using a range of jump grids. We also teach you to be able to analyse your own dogs jumping style and improve it if necessary.
Most people's first view of agility comes from the coverage of Crufts each year and the agility competitions held in December in conjunction with Olympia Horse Show. However, there are more than 300 licensed agility shows held annually, not to mention the numerous special sponsored events which take place nationwide. There are local agility shows held in Shrewsbury and Oswestry - easily accessible to all.
Your dog does not have to be a pedigree dog to take part in Kennel Club shows, but it must be registered with the Kennel Club on either the Breed Register or the Activity Register. We can help you with this.
